Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

RCT is a sequence of treatment for the pulp (containing blood vessels & nerves) of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion. It is done with the help of needle like instruments called as files. It is a relatively pain less procedure and usually require 3-4 sittings. In some specific conditions it can be done in single sitting also called as Single Sitting RCT.

  1. It is usually done in teeth:-
  2. . Which have undergone trauma
  3. . Teeth that are fractured
  4. . Deep carious teeth having pain.

It is the only way by which a tooth can be saved otherwise tooth needs to be extracted.

NOTE- post RCT treated tooth must be capped otherwise chances of tooth fracture is there.
